Featuring new photos and bonus material:

- Two color inserts featuring never-before-seen photos from the set and posters and other memorabilia from Rick Dalton's career
- An original, exclusive script for a Bounty Law episode by Quentin Tarantino titled 'Incident at Inez'
- A Mad Magazine parody of Bounty Law titled 'Lousy Law: Loser's Last Ride'

Quentin Tarantino's long-awaited first work of fiction - at once hilarious, delicious, and brutal - is the always surprising, sometimes shocking new novel based on his Academy Award-winning film。

Rick Dalton - Once he had his own TV series, but now Rick's a washed-up villain-of-the week drowning his sorrows in whiskey sours。 Will a phone call from Rome save his fate or seal it?

Cliff Booth - Rick's stunt double, and the most infamous man on any movie set because he's the only one there who might have gotten away with murder 。 。 。

Sharon Tate - She left Texas to chase a movie-star dream, and found it。 Sharon's salad days are now spent on Cielo Drive, high in the Hollywood Hills。

Charles Manson - The ex-con's got a bunch of zonked-out hippies thinking he's their spiritual leader, but he'd trade it all to be a rock 'n' roll star。

Mi ha molto divertito。 Non mi aspettavo scritto così bene。 È una specie di universo espanso rispetto alla sceneggiatura。 Molto interessante。

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is probably my favorite Tarantino film, so there was no way I wasn’t going to love the novelization。 Honestly, I wish he would write a sequel to this that explores more of the Manson family and a few of the scenes in the movie that are just glossed over here。 It’s insane how epic this story is。

Rarely have I had so much fun reading a book, all the more surprising as I knew, or thought I knew, the plot of this "novel "。 But thanks to Tarantino's encyclopedic knowledge of Hollywood in all its details, the levels of backstory are amazing and hilarious, all the more so with how he folds the fictional Rick and Cliff into the different tales, especially the eerily parallel tale of the Polanski's and the Manson Family。 And I don't think it's spoiler to mention that the final "fantasy" segment Rarely have I had so much fun reading a book, all the more surprising as I knew, or thought I knew, the plot of this "novel "。 But thanks to Tarantino's encyclopedic knowledge of Hollywood in all its details, the levels of backstory are amazing and hilarious, all the more so with how he folds the fictional Rick and Cliff into the different tales, especially the eerily parallel tale of the Polanski's and the Manson Family。 And I don't think it's spoiler to mention that the final "fantasy" segment of the film, the twist on the Cielo Drive ultraviolence, is left to the viewer, not to the reader。 。。。more

Клифф не заценил «Жюля и Джима», потому что не заценил тёлку。 А это фильм из тех, где если ты не заценил тёлку, то не заценишь фильм。

This is more of a supplement to the movie than a novelization but great either way!

Alejandro Morales

Weak effort from a person addicted to 60s movie magazines and Charlie Manson stories。 Empty。

Lori Sparger

Loved the movie。 This was an odd case where the book just wasn’t quite as good。

Of course I had to give this book 5 stars! There is a lot more behind-the-scenes and more information and back stories on peoples lives that I found very interesting。 Also he did a lot more scenes on the Lancer tv show that I found very interesting。 But this is a rare case of the movie was better than the book。 Quentin Tarantino can tell a story but he can visually tell one extremely better。

Riley Greenwood

Extremely self-indulgent, unexpectedly surprising, and just a good fun time in Tarantino’s fantasy world of “what could have been” in an era he clearly cherishes。 Couldn’t get Tarantino’s voice out of my head as the narrator, and i enjoyed the twists and turns the novel presented as compared to the film。 Good stuff。

A love letter to Classic Hollywood。 Pure nostalgia with a dedication to details, including the physical book itself。 Funny, insightful, entertaining, fun。 An extension of the film, with "deleted scenes" or "extended scenes。" Stories and subplots that only get alluded to in Tarantino's film。 Only for the hardcore Tarantino fan or cinephile。 Once Tarantino retires from filmmaking, he definitely has a career in writing novels。 A love letter to Classic Hollywood。 Pure nostalgia with a dedication to details, including the physical book itself。 Funny, insightful, entertaining, fun。 An extension of the film, with "deleted scenes" or "extended scenes。" Stories and subplots that only get alluded to in Tarantino's film。 Only for the hardcore Tarantino fan or cinephile。 Once Tarantino retires from filmmaking, he definitely has a career in writing novels。 。。。more

Tarantino is very skillful in writing dialogues。 It goes without saying when watching his works。 However, he went on a tangent too often and I found myself skipping most of it。 Most of it are useless to the plot。 He wrote a lot about side information, but not a lot of meat for the main plot。 The book also doesn't have a strong ending like the film, an odd choice。 Overall I still enjoy it, but maybe a bit more editing for him doesn't hurt。 Tarantino is very skillful in writing dialogues。 It goes without saying when watching his works。 However, he went on a tangent too often and I found myself skipping most of it。 Most of it are useless to the plot。 He wrote a lot about side information, but not a lot of meat for the main plot。 The book also doesn't have a strong ending like the film, an odd choice。 Overall I still enjoy it, but maybe a bit more editing for him doesn't hurt。 。。。more

By adapting his screenplay into a novel, Tarantino succeeds in fleshing out his characters and story in long-form in a way in which the film couldn’t。 As a very slow-paced character-driven film, the story works very well as a novel, and I personally enjoyed the book more。

I absolutely loved the movie and I loved this book for sure。 You gotta love Quentin's movies。 I highly recommend watching "Once Upon a Time In Hollywood" before reading his novelization of the same title。 I know Quentin is no Stephen King but this a a great entry novel for the award winning Director。 I hope he at least writes 2-3 more books。 I love the Era this story takes place in and all the references that are made about the Era and location the story takes place。 I honestly wish I've gotten I absolutely loved the movie and I loved this book for sure。 You gotta love Quentin's movies。 I highly recommend watching "Once Upon a Time In Hollywood" before reading his novelization of the same title。 I know Quentin is no Stephen King but this a a great entry novel for the award winning Director。 I hope he at least writes 2-3 more books。 I love the Era this story takes place in and all the references that are made about the Era and location the story takes place。 I honestly wish I've gotten the chance to experience 1969 in Hollywood but this story does it very well for me! BASICALLY A BOOK WITH NO PLOT, JUST VIBE TW: underage sex, slur wordsI was excited to read this but somehow I got lost in translation? True to the premise “Hollywood 1969, you shoulda been there!”, this book is meant for old film buffs and by old, I meant 50s and 60s Westerns (and some Italians)The book tells so many backstories of each character but really did nothing to the plot。 I struggled to understand the references, like major films trending then and actors & actresses lifestyles。 I just BASICALLY A BOOK WITH NO PLOT, JUST VIBE TW: underage sex, slur wordsI was excited to read this but somehow I got lost in translation? She’s like smarty Hermione 😂) As for the plot, I don’t mind the scenes jumping off from present to past back to present, sometimes future。 Tarantino is a decent storyteller。 There’s also film in film, which I find amusing but unnecessary。 It doesn’t add anything to the plot, merely adding spices to Rick’s character ‼️No spoiler, but the ending is entirely different and I personally prefer the movie。 But the book got me “awwwhhh” 🥲🥰The only character with decent development is Rick。 You can see him changing from a popular cowboy actor to unpopular actor to to being back in films。 But his friend/ stuntman Cliff doesn’t have it。 He’s brutal (yo this guy managed to get away from murder many times), somewhat racist, sees women as sex appeal and uses so many f words。 But his journey is more interesting to read than Rick 🤷🏻‍♀️**pg 164 there seems like an insult to Prophet Muhammad (I couldn’t find the reference to this yet) This book is a hit or miss。 But I recommend to watch the movie firstTQ Times Reads and Ms Putri Fariza for sending me this review copy! 🥰 。。。more

This story is mostly about Cliff Booth, an old stunt double for actor Rick Dalton。 But these days it's more like Cliff is Rick's dedicated driver。 The two men have lived the Hollywood life of struggles and some fame。 After having his own TV series and getting some good movie roles Rick is not getting the offers he used to。 As the actor comes to terms with his falling fame, usually finding solace in a bottle, the world goes on and he has to keep up or be left behind。It just so happens that Rick l This story is mostly about Cliff Booth, an old stunt double for actor Rick Dalton。 But these days it's more like Cliff is Rick's dedicated driver。 The two men have lived the Hollywood life of struggles and some fame。 After having his own TV series and getting some good movie roles Rick is not getting the offers he used to。 As the actor comes to terms with his falling fame, usually finding solace in a bottle, the world goes on and he has to keep up or be left behind。It just so happens that Rick lives next door to Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski。 The story evolves to include the "family" of Charles Manson。 Charlie's living on the Spahn farm, an old western movie set that Rick and Cliff know well having worked there many times in their careers。 The girls in the family interact with Cliff on occasion。 The girls are more prominent in this story than Charlie Manson。 Their back stories, what led them to join the family, what they contribute and how they survive make for interesting reading。 This felt like the prequel for Helter Skelter, the movie about the Manson family and their killing spree。 This book is sort of the lead up to that。。。sort of but not really。 It definitely gives an insiders view of Hollywood through the actors' eyes。。。 the ego involved in every conversation, the hierarchy that exists between the players, the cut throat business of getting the role。。。and the devastation or glory that follows。 I enjoyed the book。 I like feeling like I'm getting a glimpse of something I was never meant to see。 I'm a TV/movie watcher but knowing what goes on behind the scene is fun, getting a peek around the curtain into a secret world。 。。。more

It was enjoyable in parts。 I enjoy Tarantino's dialogue, but there was too much name dropping and not enough story telling。 I found myself spending tons of time looking up the actors he was name dropping instead of focusing on the story itself。 I was also disappointed by the ending - which I won't disclose here to avoid spoilers for other readers - but, let's just say it was not the same as the movie。 It was enjoyable in parts。 I enjoy Tarantino's dialogue, but there was too much name dropping and not enough story telling。 I found myself spending tons of time looking up the actors he was name dropping instead of focusing on the story itself。 I was also disappointed by the ending - which I won't disclose here to avoid spoilers for other readers - but, let's just say it was not the same as the movie。 。。。more

That time Tarantino wrote Hollywood fanfic。 I’ll be honest, I went in expecting a novelization of the movie, but this felt more like a companion piece to the movie, elaborating on certain parts while not focusing on other parts from the movie。 Definitely felt more like Tarantino’s love letter to the age of film and television of the 50’s and 60’s。

Quentin Tarantino goes deeper in the story of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood than he did in the movie。 And not only that: he changed the order in which he tells the facts, thus making the me feel way different than when i watched the film。If i didn't already convince you to read, and you watched the movie, know this: The mistery of Cliff Booth is revealed in the book。 Quentin Tarantino goes deeper in the story of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood than he did in the movie。 And not only that: he changed the order in which he tells the facts, thus making the me feel way different than when i watched the film。If i didn't already convince you to read, and you watched the movie, know this: The mistery of Cliff Booth is revealed in the book。 。。。more
